Reimagining Science Education: Emerging Teaching-Learning Approaches Objectives By the end of the Professional Development Programme, participants will be able to: 1. Understand the need and significance of emerging teaching-learning approaches in Science education. 2. Identify learner-centred, inquiry-based and experiential approaches for effective Science teaching. 3. Apply inquiry-based, problem-based, project-based and experiential learning in Science classrooms. 4. Connect scientific concepts with real-life situations, local contexts and contemporary issues. 5. Promote scientific temper, curiosity, observation, experimentation and evidence-based reasoning among learners. 6. Integrate appropriate digital tools, simulations, multimedia and virtual resources into Science teaching. 7. Develop students’ critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication and problem-solving skills. 8. Design inclusive and differentiated learning experiences that address diverse learner needs. 9. Use formative, competency-based and performance-based assessment strategies in Science. 10. Create engaging Science learning environments that encourage exploration, questioning and innovation. Learning Outcomes After completing the PDP, participants will be able to: • Explain the principles of emerging pedagogies in Science education. • Design learner-centred and competency-based Science lessons. • Use inquiry and experiential learning to develop scientific understanding. • Plan hands-on experiments and investigations connected with real-life situations. • Use project-based and problem-based learning to develop higher-order thinking. • Integrate digital tools, simulations and multimedia resources appropriately. • Encourage students to ask questions, formulate hypotheses, collect evidence and draw conclusions. • Facilitate collaborative learning and scientific discussions. • Apply formative and authentic assessment strategies to monitor scientific competencies. • Reflect on and improve Science teaching practices to make learning more meaningful, engaging and relevant.
