About this program

Two Days On-Line Programme on “Pedagogy of Teaching English” for Teaching Community (Pre-Primary to Secondary Level Teachers) Professional Skills Development: The twenty-first century competencies and skills are basic requirements for all of us including teachers, head teachers, teacher educators and other stakeholders in the present rapidly changing world. The National Education Policy 2020 emphasises that the teacher has to be brought to the centre of fundamental reforms in education. Thus, teachers assume the central place in the entire scheme of learning process. Consequently, an increased importance has been placed on the necessity for the professional development of teachers and other concerned stakeholders in order to bring a qualitative change in the education system. The NEP 2020 also recommend (Para 5.15) that “Teachers will be given continuous opportunities for self-improvement and learning the latest innovations and advances in their professions. It is, therefore, significant to mention that the NEP 2020 emphasizes Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for teachers, head teaches and teacher educators with an aim to provide them adequate opportunities for self-improvement. The policy also expects from them to participate in at least 50 hours of CPD every year for their professional development, driven by their self-interests and with an understanding of the concept of learning as lifelong process. CPD opportunities will, in particular, systematically cover the latest pedagogies regarding foundational literacy and numeracy, formative and adaptive assessment of learning outcomes, competency based learning, and related pedagogies, such as experiential learning, arts-integrated, sports-integrated, and storytelling-based approaches, etc.” (National Education Policy 2020, p. 22).
