Innovative and Experiential Pedagogies for Social Science Teaching Objectives By the end of the Professional Development Programme, participants will be able to: 1. Understand the meaning, principles and significance of innovative and experiential pedagogies in Social Science education. 2. Identify learner-centred approaches that promote active participation and meaningful learning. 3. Apply project-based, inquiry-based, problem-based and experiential learning strategies in Social Science classrooms. 4. Connect Social Science concepts with real-life situations, local contexts and contemporary issues. 5. Use debates, role plays, simulations, case studies, field visits and storytelling to enrich classroom learning. 6. Develop students’ critical thinking, analytical reasoning, communication, collaboration and decision-making skills. 7. Integrate digital tools, multimedia and virtual resources appropriately into Social Science teaching. 8. Promote interdisciplinary learning by connecting Social Science with other curricular areas. 9. Use formative, authentic and performance-based assessment strategies to assess competencies. 10. Create inclusive, participatory and engaging learning environments that encourage inquiry and civic awareness. Learning Outcomes After completing the PDP, participants will be able to: • Explain the key principles of innovative and experiential learning in Social Science. • Design learner-centred lessons using contemporary pedagogical approaches. • Develop projects based on authentic social, political, economic, historical and environmental issues. • Use role play, debates, simulations, case studies and field-based activities effectively. • Encourage students to collect, analyse and interpret information from different sources. • Connect classroom learning with local communities, current affairs and real-world situations. • Integrate digital resources and multimedia to enhance learning experiences. • Facilitate collaborative discussions and activities that promote multiple perspectives. • Apply formative and performance-based assessment to evaluate knowledge and skills. • Reflect on teaching practices and modify them to make Social Science learning more meaningful and engaging.
