TWO-DAYS ONLINE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME Professional Skills Development: NEP 2020 and NCFSE 2023 For Teaching Community: Pre-Primary to Secondary Level Teachers Programme Overview The rapidly changing educational landscape of the twenty-first century demands new knowledge, competencies and professional skills from teachers, school leaders, teacher educators and other stakeholders in education. Twenty-first century competencies and skills are essential for enabling teachers to respond effectively to the diverse learning needs of students and to create meaningful, inclusive and learner-centred learning environments. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 places teachers at the centre of fundamental reforms in education. Teachers therefore occupy a central position in the entire teaching-learning process. The policy recognises that sustained professional development of teachers and other educational stakeholders is essential for bringing about qualitative improvements in the education system. NEP 2020, in Para 5.15, emphasises that teachers should be provided continuous opportunities for self-improvement and for learning about the latest innovations and advances in their profession. The policy further recommends that teachers, head teachers and teacher educators participate in at least 50 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) every year, based on their professional interests and their understanding of learning as a lifelong process. CPD opportunities are expected to cover contemporary pedagogies and practices, including Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN), formative and adaptive assessment, competency-based learning, experiential learning, arts-integrated learning, sports-integrated learning, storytelling-based approaches and other innovative pedagogies. Programme Description “Professional Skills Development: NEP 2020 and NCFSE 2023” is a two-day online professional development programme designed for teachers working from the Pre-Primary/Foundational Stage to the Secondary Stage. The programme aims to strengthen the professional knowledge, skills and competencies of teachers in accordance with the vision of NEP 2020, NCF 2022 (Foundational Stage) and NCFSE 2023 (School Education). The programme will provide teachers with opportunities to: • Update their professional knowledge and understanding of contemporary educational reforms. • Develop twenty-first century teaching competencies. • Understand child-centred and competency-based approaches to teaching and learning. • Address the social, emotional, psychological and educational needs of learners. • Integrate innovative pedagogies and technology into classroom practices. • Strengthen assessment practices for improving learning outcomes. • Promote creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving and collaboration among students. • Reflect on their own professional practices and identify areas for continuous improvement. Objectives of the Programme The programme aims to enhance teachers' knowledge and skills in the following areas: 1. NEP 2020, NCF 2022 (Foundational Stage) and NCFSE 2023 (School Education). 2. Social, emotional, psychological and educational needs of students. 3. Creativity and innovation in teaching-learning. 4. Competency-based learning and assessment for improving learning outcomes. 5. Twenty-first century teaching skills and professional competencies. 6. Innovative, inclusive and child-centred teaching-learning strategies. 7. Experiential, problem-solving, ICT-enabled and activity-based learning. 8. Assessment for learning and the development of desired competencies. Learning Outcomes After successful completion of the programme, participating teachers will be able to: • Design and implement twenty-first century teaching-learning strategies, including experiential learning, problem-solving, collaborative learning and ICT-enabled pedagogies. • Apply child-centred and learner-centric approaches to improve classroom engagement and participation. • Integrate innovative pedagogies in classroom teaching in alignment with NEP 2020 and NCFSE 2023. • Identify and respond appropriately to the social, emotional, psychological and educational needs of students. • Develop learning experiences that promote creativity, critical thinking, communication, collaboration and problem-solving. • Apply competency-based teaching-learning and assessment practices for improving student learning outcomes. • Develop a culture of assessment for learning, using assessment evidence to identify learning gaps and provide appropriate support. • Use appropriate digital and ICT-based resources to enrich teaching-learning processes. • Reflect on their professional practices and identify opportunities for continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
