Two Days On-Line Programme on “Pedagogy of Teaching Mathematics” Developing Professional Skills of Mathematic Teachers: The twenty-first century competencies and skills are basic requirements for all of in the present rapidly changing world. Mathematics Education aims to develop capacities of logical thinking, finding patterns, explaining patterns, making, refuting, and proving conjectures, problem solving, computing fluently, and communicating clearly and precisely – through content areas such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry, probability, statistics, trigonometry, and calculus (National Curriculum Framework SE 2023, p. 268). Mathematics thus has an important role to play in achieving the overall Aims of School Education. The specific aims of Mathematics Education are Basic Numeracy, Mathematical Thinking, Problem Solving, Mathematical Intuition and Joy, curiosity, and wonder It is, therefore, significant to mention that the NEP 2020 emphasizes Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for Teachers with an aim to provide them adequate opportunities for self-improvement. “we must rethink the approach of teaching to one where students see Mathematics as a part of their life, and enjoy it with a greater focus on reasoning and creative problem solving. As with Language learning, students should not be allowed to fall behind in Mathematics and should be immediately supported to catch up if they do fall behind.”. (National Curriculum Framework SE 2023, p. 272) Programme Description: This is a programme for Teachers teaching Mathematics at various levels. The programme provides necessary knowledge and skills to teachers as envisaged in NEP 2020. The programme provides the teachers to stay up-to-date and develop themselves professionally. At the end of the programme teachers will be able to develop their pedagogical skills. After successful completion of the programme participants will be given “Certificate of Participation”. The objective of the programme is to enhance their knowledge and skills in the area of- • Overview of NEP 2020 and role of school libraries and librarians in fulfilling the mission. • Strengthening collection development policy to bridge the digital divide. • Action Research to inculcate reading habit among students. • Information Literacy and role of school libraries for holistic development.
